J.B. served on the Breckenridge Town Council from 1996–2004, elected to two terms until she term limited out. After Town Council, she served on the Breckenridge Planning Commission and the Breckenridge Liquor and Marijuana Board as Chairman and Vice Chairman.

The Colorado Supreme Court appointed her to the 5th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission where she served for 12 years and Governor John Hickenlooper appointed her to the 5th Judicial District Judicial Nomination Commission. In addition, J.B. served for ten years on the Summit County Recovery Court Board including eighteen months of the Court’s start up and organization.
